Overview
Mahe
As well as being the economic and political center Mahe captures all the delights of the Seychelles within its shores. There are numerous Creole restaurants, craft shops, art galleries and a spectacular fruit and vegetable market in the capital town of Victoria.
The island boasts 68 beautiful beaches, the most famous of which is Beau Vallon. Each one is surrounded by sparkling crystal water offering a wealth of things to do.
Praslin
A mere 2 ½ hours by boat from Mahe, Praslin is the home of the unique coco-de-mer palm growing in the mysterious Vallee de Mai. Three of the rarest birds in the world are found here too.
La Dique
Haif an hour from Praslin or 3 hours by boat from Mahe. The local transport system of ox-cart or bicycle ensures the tranquility of this island. Several hotels will welcome you, enormous granite boulders on the union beach will fascinate you and very rare bird species.
Bird Island
Thirty minutes by air from Mahe, this island is a dream for ornithologists. It is a haven for Turnerstones Cardinals, fairy, Sooty and Noody terns among other birds. Upto two million Sooty terns nest here every year from May to October.
Moyenne, Cerf and Round
An enchanting necklace of islands around Victoria Bay within easy boating distance offers swimming along the sheltered reef and exotic Creole restaurants on Moyenne, Cerf, Round. He adjacent island St Anne and Long are closed to the public.
Other Islands
These include Silhouette, Ile, Therese, Demis Island, Desroches, Aride, Aldabra, Poivre, Fregate.
