Itinerary
Drive heading south across the Athi Plains and home of the brightly painted Maasai tribe, to the fascinating Amboseli National Park beautifully situated at the foot of the towering Mt. Kilimanjaro. Full board at a lodge overlooked by Mt Kilimanajro.
Early morning game viewing drive in the park. As the sun rises the clouds usually lift to reveal the snow-dome of Mt Kilimanjaro, providing a majestic backdrop to the beautifully grazing plains game. Elephant, buffalo, zebra and giraffe are prevalent while your keen-eyed guide may be able to spot lion, rhino of the graceful cheetah.
Bird life in Amboseli is prolific and the scenery a remarkable contrast of arid scrub land and lush swamps. Further game viewing after breakfast. Lunch at the lodge is followed by time for a siesta with a game viewing drive later in the afternoon. Overnight at the lodge.
Morning drive to Nairobi arriving in time for lunch. Continue northwest, descending into the Rift Valley to Lake Nakuru National Park. Game viewing and bird watching beside the shores of the lake famous as a bird life sanctuary. Overnight at a lodge overlooking the lake.
Morning drive via Narok to the rolling grasslands of the Maasai mara Game Reserve, Kenya’s portion of the vast Serengeti ecosystem. Afternoon game viewing in this fabulous game reserve. Full board at a lodge or luxury tented camp.
A full day game viewing in the Maasai Mara Game Reserve. Look out for lion, elephant, rhino, leopard and buffalo as well as cheetah and huge herds of plains game such as wildebeest, zebra and antelope. The afternoon will provide a last chance to imprint the images of unspoiled Africa in your mind. Full board at a lodge or luxury tented camp. Maasai Mara – Nairobi
After breakfast, return to Nairobi arriving before lunch.
