Rugged and remote, these wildlife reserves lie just within the semi-desert Northern Frontier District of Kenya. With a magnificent background of jagged, purple mountains, they provide some of the best and most colorful game viewing in the country. The Uaso Nyiro River flowing through the park provides a natural habitat for crocodiles. Not to be found in less arid areas, the long-necked gerenuk, Grevy’s Zebra and graceful reticulated giraffes are in plenty in this park. Elephants, cheetahs, lions, and other host of African mammals seek solace and contentment in the tranquil waters of the Uaso Nyiro.
