The Uaso Nyiro river forms the boundary between Buffalo Springs National Reserve and the Shaba a newly created national reserve. It is a small oasis in the rather arid and volcanic land. The main attraction is the wide sauntering river, fringed with acacia, doum palms and tamarind. Small hills and springs dominate this park. It shares faunal structure with Samburu and Buffalo Springs National Reserve.
